3000th Argo Float Milestone

Image

1 November 2007: Argo successfully reaches a significant milestone with its 3000th float operating in the ocean.

Attaining the 3000th float target in so short a time (first Argo float launched in 2000) has been a remarkable achievement and is a tribute to the hard work and international cooperation of many individuals, countries and agencies.
Argo improves our estimates and forecasts of sea-level rise, climate and hurricanes. Maintaining the array's size and global coverage in the coming decades is the next challenge of Argo. Argo 3000 Press release.
