3000th ARGO FLOAT MILESTONE

1 November 2007 - Argo successfully reaches a significant milestone with its 3000th float operating in the ocean
Attaining the 3000th float target in so short a time (the first Argo float was launched in 2000) has been a remarkable achievement and is a tribute to the hard work and international cooperation of many individuals, countries and agencies. Argo improves our estimates and forecasts of sea-level rise, climate and hurricanes. Maintaining the array's size and global coverage in the coming decades is the next challenge of Argo.
Argo 3000 Press release. More on the Argo Information Centre (including today's Argo float distribution map).
